Game review: Golden Treasure: The Great Green

A lovely text adventure with a surprisingly strong focus on philosophy. A 20ish hours-long treat for the mind and soul, not just for those who feel connected to dragonkind. This story will stay with me for a long, long time, I feel. Its ideas and messages have connected with me, and changed me.

Despite playing as an animal at the very top of the food chain, it is recognized that this position comes with responsibility and duty - and it does not mean superiority. This satifies me deeply as someone with an interest in ecology. Every creature is treated as an equally important part of the whole environment, and each is given special attention. Your research of the wildlife is rewarded with lesssons of the virtues that can be gained from observing their way of survival.

My only grievance with this game is that certain elements can become a little grindy and annoying - but not so much so to taper the desire to uncover everything it has to offer. It is a slightly obscure game created by a small team, and it shows, but it is also plain to see that it is a labor of love. I love that every background and tarot card has some additional behind-the-scenes commentary.

I highly recommend this game, especially to those with a fondness for nature and a self-reflective disposition. Become Kin, and sing the Song of your life!
